Pune: The ICAR-IVRI Training and Education Centre (TEC), Pune, successfully conducted a live webcast of the Prime Minister’s address during the release of the 20th installment of the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi Scheme, with a thematic focus on sensitizing farmers about livestock cooperatives and associated government schemes.

Held as part of a nationwide awareness campaign, the event saw participation from 51 farmers and officials and included knowledge-sharing sessions led by prominent experts from agriculture and animal husbandry sectors.

Dr Kiran Bhilegaonkar, Station In-Charge at TEC Pune, opened the session by underlining the Centre’s efforts in building livestock-driven livelihoods through capacity-building and scientific outreach.

Dr Mahesh Kadam, Associate Professor at VAMNICOM, delivered a detailed presentation on schemes like White Revolution 2.0, Sahkar Dairy Scheme, and the role of mPACS in dairy and fisheries. He encouraged the adoption of collective models such as multi-state livestock cooperatives to enhance value chain efficiency and rural income generation.

Dr Dhananjay Gaikwad emphasized the Integrated Farming System (IFS) model, promoting synergy between crop and livestock enterprises. Dr Abhyankar, Assistant Commissioner from the Department of Animal Husbandry, Government of Maharashtra, showcased embryo transfer technology and reproductive advancements to preserve indigenous breeds.

Avdhoot Kadam of the CARE Foundation addressed field-level implementation issues and convergence strategies between schemes.

Participants joined the PM’s webcast at 11:00 AM, where the Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s vision for doubling farmers’ income, supporting agri-tech innovations, and building rural infrastructure.

Later, Dr Amol Bhalerao from TEC presented success stories from SCSP and TSP initiatives, reflecting the impact of scientific training on Scheduled Caste and Tribal farmers. The event concluded with a Q&A session, coordinated by Dr Bhalerao and Dr Sangharatna V Bahire, with support from ICAR-IVRI Training and Education Centre scientists Dr HP Aithal, Dr SK Das, and Manisha Naikwade.

This initiative reinforced the role of the ICAR-IVRI Training and Education Centre in bridging the gap between research, policy, and grassroots agricultural communities.
